MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Ocmulgee Traders will open its doors Friday night so you can see a sneak peek of all the things they have lined on the shelves.

It's located on the bottom floor of the Dannenberg building.

"I"m just looking forward to it," said Dannenberg resident Josh Peacock.

Peacock just has to walk downstairs to get his groceries.

"I think it's going to be an awesome thing for Macon," said Peacock.

Ocmulgee Traders is the first of its kind in downtown Macon.

"Man I wish there was a grocery store around town, and now there is," said Peacock.

Store co-owner Steve Bell says he hopes this business will help revitalization efforts.

"We really see the store as really a catalyst for growth for more business," said Bell. "We can't have continued residential growth development without a grocery store to feed them. So not only are we feeding the residents, but we're feeding that growth."

He promises the prices will won't put a dent in your wallet.

"I've got a sister-in-law who's a shopper by heart and she came in the other day and said, 'Your prices are lower than the big box store!'...and I said yeah, we're affordable," said Bell.

And he believes his store can rival any major grocery store.

"We can move very quickly," said Bell. "We can get a product in. We don't have all the red tape and channels that probably a big store would have to go through. For just an individual to say can you get me this? Yeah, we can do it like that."

The grand opening is from 6 to 9 Friday night.

Be sure to bring your wallet, because you'll be able to purchase anything you need right off the shelf.

The store is going to have a lot of local products, and Bell says they have something for everyone.

For craft beer lovers, growlers will be sold.
